본 프로젝트는 서울특별시와 아시아 헌법재판소 연합 연구 사무국(AACC)의 MOU 체결에 따라 서울글로벌센터 빌딩 내 2017년 개관한 헌법재판소 아시아 상설사무국의 환경 조성 작업이다. 서울시와 AACC 사무국 간의 업무 협약에 따라 연구진을 위한 사무 공간을 조성하는 것이 주요 목표였으며, 기존 헌법재판소의 권위적인 이미지를 탈피하고, 보다 현대적이고 생동감 있는 공간으로 조성하여 업무 효율성과 쾌적함을 극대화하고자 하였다.

한정된 공간을 효율적으로 활용하기 위해 사무 공간을 중앙에 배치하고 최적의 동선을 형성하였다. 또한, 해당 공간은 해외 주요 인사들이 자주 방문하는 곳이므로 자연스러우면서도 위엄 있는 분위기를 연출하기 위해 벽면에 우드 마감재를 적용하였다. 이러한 디자인은 공간에 깊이감을 부여하면서도 전문성을 강조하는 역할을 한다.

업무 공간의 파티션은 녹색 계열의 소재를 활용하여 단조로움을 방지하고 시각적으로 활력을 더했다. 우드 톤과의 조화로 인해 안정적이면서도 생동감 있는 공간이 형성되었으며, 업무 환경에 보다 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있도록 디자인되었다.

개인 사무실의 경우, 내부와 외부 벽면 마감을 동일한 우드 톤으로 통일하여 일관된 분위기를 연출하였으며, 히든 붙박이장을 설치하여 공간 활용도를 높였다. 또한, 개방감을 유지하기 위해 가구 배치를 최소화하였으며, 데스크 맞은편 벽면에는 화이트보드를 설치하여 빈번한 회의와 협업이 원활하게 이루어질 수 있도록 하였다.

본 프로젝트는 단순한 공간 조성이 아닌, 헌법재판소 아시아 상설사무국의 역할과 비전을 반영한 디자인을 목표로 하였다. 한국과 아시아의 법률 협력 및 연구가 이루어지는 중요한 공간으로서, 연구진과 방문객이 보다 효율적이고 쾌적한 환경에서 업무를 수행할 수 있도록 기능성과 미적 요소를 균형 있게 조화시킨 것이 본 프로젝트의 핵심이다.

This project involved designing and optimizing the workspace for the Permanent Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Asia, which was established in 2017 within the Seoul Global Center as part of an MOU between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC).

 

The primary goal was to provide a dedicated office space for researchers while transforming the traditionally solemn and formal image of constitutional courts into a modern, dynamic, and efficient working environment that enhances both comfort and productivity.

To maximize the efficient use of limited space, workstations were centrally positioned, forming an optimal circulation path. Given the frequent visits from high-profile international dignitaries, wood-finished walls were incorporated to establish a refined yet authoritative atmosphere. This design choice adds depth to the space while reinforcing a sense of professionalism.

​

The partitions between workstations were designed with green-toned materials, adding vibrancy and preventing the space from feeling monotonous. The integration of green tones with natural wood finishes creates a balanced, lively, and stable workspace, fostering a more engaging and pleasant work environment.

In private offices, the interior and exterior walls were uniformly finished with wood tones, ensuring a cohesive and polished look. Built-in hidden storage solutions were implemented to maximize space efficiency, while the furniture layout was intentionally kept minimal to maintain openness. Additionally, whiteboards were installed on the walls opposite the desks, enabling seamless collaboration and facilitating frequent discussions.

 

This project was not merely about office design—it was about embodying the role and vision of the Permanent Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Asia. As a critical space for legal cooperation and research within Korea and the broader Asian region, the design strategically balanced functionality and aesthetics to create an optimal working environment for researchers and distinguished visitors alike.
